Week 1
Day 1 - Monday 1/14/19
Spin class & a combo run/walk for a total of 3.6 miles
I had not taken a spin class since I don't remember when (within the last year...but still, a long time) and my legs were tired after! I tried to do run/walk intervals after the class and legs felt heavy. Got through it, but barely. My ankles were particularly sore. I was going to make spin class & running a regular occurrence on Mondays, but I think instead I'll stick to spin class & walking.
Day 2 - Tuesday 1/15/19
Legs still somewhat sore from spin class, but in a good way, not an over-the-top not able to walk way like they have felt sometimes after a body pump class.
Came up with a training plan today, based loosely on Jeff Galloway's training plan, but lengthening it and adding in some cross-training weeks, both when I have my period/not feeling as great, and when I have multiple work conflicts in the same week.
So, tonight was night 1:
Warmup: Walk for 5 minutes @ 2.5mph for a total distance of .20
Workout: Run .15/walk .10 intervals for 25 minutes, but extended to 26:21 because I didn't want to end in the middle of an interval - total distancer was 1.5 miles (average pace: 17:38). Run speed was 4.5mph, walk speed was 2.5mph.
Other: Walked 1.9 miles to complete 3.6 miles total for the day
I should preface this blog my saying I'm not officially registered for the Beach 2 Beacon 10k yet, but hoping to get in, when registration opens on March 14th.
Also, even though I haven't read it yet, this blog concept is based on a book I recently heard about, "Inside a Marathon" by Scott Fauble & Ben Rosario.
